First layer messages can have the following statuses within your account:

Draft first layer message
Draft versions of your first layer message are a workspace that allow you to configure and test the design of your message without necessarily making those edits public. All newly created first layer messages are saved as a Draft.
Below are some additional details regarding Draft versions of the first layer message:
- Can be edited
- Draft versions of first layer message exists until explicitly deleted
- Draft versions of first layer message will have unique ID that is distinct from a Public or Stage versions of the same first layer message
- Edit made to Draft versions of first layer message requires a campaign relaunch to push edits to a stage or public environment
Stage first layer message
Stage versions of your first layer messages are versions of the message that have been deployed to a staging environment.
Below are some additional details regarding Stage versions of the first layer message:
- Can not be edited
- Stage versions of the first layer message will have unique ID that is distinct from the Draft or Stage versions of the same first layer message
- Stage versions of the first layer message exist until the Stage campaign is explicitly ended or the campaign is moved into the Public environment
- If a campaign is moved from the Stage environment to the Public environment, a new Public version of the first layer message will replace the Stage version and have a different ID
Public first layer message
Public versions of your first layer messages are versions of the message that have been deployed to a public environment.
Below are some additional details regarding Public versions of the first layer message:
- Can not be edited
- Public versions of the first layer message will have unique ID that is distinct from the Draft or Stage versions of the same first layer message
- Public versions of the first layer message exist until the Public campaign is explicitly ended or the campaign is moved into the Stage environment
- If a campaign is moved from the Public environment to the Stage environment, a new Stage version of the first layer message will replace the Public version and have a different ID
