Test configuration addition Preferences gate option

Configuration additions is a possible option when configuring Preferences gates for your Preference Center message scenarios. By using this option for the Preferences gate, your organization is deciding to surface a particular message because new categories was added to your Preferences configuration. In this article, we will cover the different ways you can test the configuration additions gate option.

Manually test configuration additions

In order to test this configuration manually, your organization can perform the following:

  • Collect the marketing preferences for an end-user on your web property
  • Add a new category to the Preferences configuration that is associated with the web property
  • Refresh the web page*
  • Test to see if message appears to collect marketing preferences

  *Note: Be aware that it can take up to 30 minutes before the CDN cache is cleared and your changes are reflected.

Test configuration additions via query string

Alternatively, Sourcepoint provides a query string parameter that your organization can append to the web property's URL which will simulate a category addition to your Preferences configuration (eliminating the need to actually add new a category).

To simulate a new category being added to your Preferences configuration when accessing a web property, include the query string parameter _sp_configuration_additions to your URL and set the value to true

_sp_configuration_additions=true

When the query string parameter is detected, Sourcepoint servers will act as if there is a new category in your Preferences configuration and serve your message (if all other conditions are met in your scenario step).
