Overview: U.S. Multi-State Privacy frameworks

When creating a U.S. Multi-State Privacy vendor list, you will be asked to select a framework for that vendor list. The two frameworks that can be selected are: Standard or Global Privacy Protocol (GPP). In this article, we will briefly review the differences between each framework.

Standard

The standard framework for U.S. Multi-State Privacy vendor lists does not adhere to an external specification like the IAB. A vendor list utilizing the standard framework will allow you to collect end-user consent for custom choices defined by your organization.

Global Privacy Protocol (GPP)

The Global Privacy Protocol (GPP) framework for U.S. Multi-State Privacy vendor lists will either set the National or state-specific privacy string as defined in the IAB Multi-State Privacy Agreement (MSPA). That is, Sourcepoint will utilize the national section or the state-specific section (if available) when encoding the gppString to communicate consent choices regarding data processing activities for end-users located in your designated states/regions.
