Privacy choice expiration (All frameworks)

   Permission: Vendor List - U.S. Multi-State

When a user visits one of your properties the state of their privacy choices (e.g. opted in, opted out) is stored within a cookie for reference on future visits. Your organization can set the expiration of this cookie via the Privacy Choice Expiration.

Navigate to a U.S. Multi-State Privacy vendor list by selecting Vendor Management from the left-hand rail and clicking U.S. Multi-State Privacy from the menu.

Where the privacy choice expiration setting is in your vendor list builder is dependent on which framework is used for your U.S. Multi-State Privacy vendor list. Click the tabs below for information on each framework:

National Standard

Click the Privacy Choices Selection tab and navigate to the Privacy Choice Expiration section.

Input the expiration date for the privacy choice cookie (up to 36135 days/ 99 years).

Note: If the user clears their cookies or if the cookie expires and the user makes a subsequent visit to the property they will be deemed a new user, and therefore their privacy choices will return to the default state.

For this reason we suggest a longer time frame for the cookie expiration in order to continue honoring the users choices.
