COMING SOON: Map cookies disclosures in bulk (GDPR TCF)

   Permission: Vendor list - GDPR

The cookie mapping workflow provides your organization with a variety of tools that enable you to disclose cookies dropped by vendors in your vendor list in bulk so that they surface for end-users in the privacy manager.

In this article, we will cover the various methods your organization can leverage to map cookies:

Cookie disclosures mapped via Diagnose scans or manually added/imported will be included in the Cookie Information section of your privacy manager nested underneath each respective vendor alongside any cookies the vendor may have declared with the IAB TCF Global Vendor List (GVL).

To start, navigate to a GDPR TCF vendor list. The bulk cookie mapping workflow can be accessed from either the vendor list wizard or directly from the Manage Vendors & Cookies button.

Vendor list wizard Manage Vendors & Cookies

The bulk cookie mapping workflow is Step 5 of the vendor list wizard.

To access, the vendor list wizard either create a new GDPR TCF vendor list (which will automatically launch the wizard) or click the  icon for an existing GDPR TCF vendor list.

IAB TCF GVL cookie disclosures

When a vendor registers with the IAB TCF Global Vendor List (GVL) it may make cookie disclosures. If there is an IAB vendor on your vendor list who has made cookie disclosures as part of its IAB TCF GVL registration Sourcepoint will automatically add those cookies for each respective vendor.

This automatic process means that prior to any cookie disclosure mapping you may do, there may already be added cookies for those IAB vendors.

Note: Cookie disclosures declared via the IAB TCF GVL are uneditable by your organization.

To review the cookies added to your vendor list via a vendor's IAB TCF GVL cookie disclosure, click View Selected Cookies in the cookie mapping workflow modal.

The subsequent panel will list the vendors on your vendor list for which there are cookies mapped. Expand a vendor to see the cookies mapped to that vendor.

Cookies added to your vendor list via the vendor's IAB TCF GVL cookie disclosure will display IAB Declared under the Added via column.

Map cookies via Diagnose cookie scans

Note: Your organization will need to have Diagnose enabled and configured for your organization before mapping cookies via Diagnose scans.

Organizations who have Sourcepoint's Diagnose tool can leverage their scanning results to populate the cookies for vendors in the cookie mapping workflow.

From the cookie mapping workflow modal, ensure Cookie Scan Result is selected.

Based on the vendors added to your vendor list using the Vendor Scan Results, the scan will return the observed cookies dropped on your domains in the most recent scan.

Note: The Purpose for each cookie found in your scan results is driven by Sourcepoint's internal mapping process that ties IAB purposes to a vendor's cookie category.

Add a cookie to your vendor list by selecting the checkbox to the left of the cookie name and selecting Add to Selected Cookies.

Map cookies via CSV import

From the cookie mapping workflow modal, click Add/Import Cookies.

Cookies included in the CSV file will populate in the Uploaded Cookies section and will be nested under their respective vendors. In order to successfully add the imported cookies, you will need to manually set the Purpose for each cookie.

Note: Cookies with incomplete data cannot be added to your vendor list. Unfortunately, setting the purpose for each cookie has to be performed within the Sourcepoint portal and cannot be added via import.

Follow the below steps to set a Purpose for each cookie:

  1. Click + inline with a vendor to see all cookies imported for that vendor.
  2. Navigate to an imported cookie for the vendor and click the  icon.
  3. Use the provided Purpose field in the subsequent modal to set one or more Purpose(s) for the cookie.
  4. Click Save when finished.

Repeat as necessary for other imported cookies.
