Categories are the subscriptions, topics, or preferences that are displayed to the user via your Preference Center message. These categories and their relevant components can be surfaced to end-users in a variety of supported languages. In this article, we will cover how to:
To start, click Preferences on the left-hand panel and select a Preferences configuration from the subsequent list.
From the selected Preferences configuration page, navigate to the Categories and Connections section and click Manage Categories.
Select the Language and Translations tab.
Add supported languages
Before configuring translations, your organization must set the languages you plan to support within your Preferences configuration and messages.
Use the View Languages dropdown menu to select all languages your organization plans to support.
After your supported languages are selected, your organization can either manually add/edit translations for each component of the category within the Sourcepoint portal or utilize the bulk upload feature.
Edit category translations
Navigate to the Title tab and select any category from the left-hand side of the panel.
Once a category is selected, the translations for each supported language will populate in the right-hand side of the panel. Click the Edit icon inline with one of the supported languages
Input your translation and click the green checkbox to confirm the edit. Repeat as necessary for each supported language.
Repeat the above steps for each category in the left-hand panel.
When finished, click the Description tab and repeat the translation steps for each supported language for each category's description.
Bulk edit category translations
In addition to configuring default copy and translations within the Sourcepoint portal, your organization can also utilize the bulk upload feature to import a csv file with your translations.
From the Language and Translations tab, click Bulk Upload.
From the subsequent modal, select whether you are uploading translations for the category title or category description.
Use the provided dropdown menu to select the Language(s) and Categories for which you will be providing translations.
Click Download CSV Template when finished.
A csv file will be downloaded to the specified location on your local machine. Update the columns for each language that you have selected to support
Note: Do not edit the text in the Category column of the csv file. This column is used to map your translations to the appropriate category.
Drag and drop your edited csv file into the provided area of the bulk upload modal. Once uploaded, the category translations will automatically populate in your configuration.
Repeat as necessary for the category Description or Title.
